Thyatira, probably established in the period of Lydians, was seized by the Selevküs after the beating of Anitoküs and then became a part of Bergama Kingdom. During the sovereignty of Roman Empire Christianity was spread here and one of the seven churches of the early Christianity in the Aegean Region was built here. At present it is possible to see some remnants of the antique theater at the city center of Akhisar.
